Sharp eyes, Clive! He’s a bit of clip-art inspiration, culled from a magazine ad – he was featured as, yes, a ventriloquist’s doll, along with maybe six or eight others? But I don’t know his maker, nor the photographer’s name, alas.

I’ve suddenly spotted a fascinating little puppet in what appears to be a display case behind Mr Hyde! I think he’s a marionette, although I can see no strings, and his face has the knowing and sardonic characteristics of a ventriloquist’s doll. Who is this little guy? I like his snazzy suit and centre-parted, slicked-down hair, though I wouldn’t buy a used car from him!!!
