Hearing that you can't imagine the first, now, without the second - that's the sweetest praise of all, Cary. I'm beyond pleased.

I wasn't sure where to post this, so going back a bit in time:
Just finished the manuscript for The Garden Path, and oh my! Kathe, it may be my favorite novel of yours, period. It is even better than Under The Poppy, or should I say, it is so additive to it, it so fully realizes these characters, these plots, this world, that I can't imagine UtP now without TGP. To quote Lilly and the Purple Plastic Purse (one of Donovan's current faves): "Just...wow."

All the same to the three of you, with an extra woof to Jack!. . . It's definitely been a treat - a bipolar treat, as you say, but hey, no highs without the lows - to share the road alongside you, Clive. I can't wait to see the finished "Equus" - all I've seen so far makes me know it will be well worth the wait.

Interesting Kathe that we're both coming in for a Christmas landing on our individual projects. You on UtP parts one and two, now gloriously united in one weighty tome, and me on the illustrations for Peter Shaffer's Equus. Mine (in contrast to your lengthier effort) has been an exhilarating sprint, though with emotions ranging from joy to occasional Stygian pits of despair. No doubt you too have experienced a few of those giddying bi-polar swings which are the legacy of all creative people during the processes of 'making'. 'No gain without the pain', to quote the trite. (Sorry, I'm feeling giddy and silly and incoherent with relief!) I deliver to the Old Stile Press tomorrow (oh the sweet, blessed relief) and then we're away to the Dordogne for our Christmas festivities. Have a great holiday. Love and hugs from Clive and Peter and Jack!
