I'm always amazed at how many writers make use of music as inspiration/mental soundtrack and the ways in which they do. I find it is almost like a form of synesthesia, or a deep trigger either to a memory or to an image. I find these days I can't actually write with music playing (I think my concentration levels have dipped too low for that), but the "inspirational" aspects are still...inspirational. Right now PJ Harvey and The Eels are the soundtrack to a new script, so as you might guess, it's very light and cheerful.
